Surgical
Surgical suite |
| Our advanced facilities are able to cope with a wide range of surgical problems, although we have close contact with several referral centres should the need arise. We have a brand new operating theatre which is fully air conditioned ensuring a warm and sterile environment for all surgical cases. |
Electrocautery |
| An electrocautery or diathermy unit enables us to execute delicate procedures with the utmost precision and with minimal blood loss |
Blood Pressure Monitor |
| Our Blood Pressure Monitor enables us to check blood pressure at any point during surgery ensuring safer anaesthetics. We also routinely check our elderly patients' blood pressure as it is commonly rasied in conditions such as kidney disease and Cushing's disease. Early diagnosis and treatment can reduce problems such as sudden onset blindness. |
Anaesthesia |
| We understand that you may be concerned about leaving your pet with us for a general anaesthetic, however we use the most up to date and safest techniques. We thoroughly check every animal prior to any anaesthetic, and recommend pre anaesthetic blood tests for older or sick animals. We use the safest and most appropriate combination of anaesthetic drugs based on your pet's body weight, condition and the procedure being carried out. Our trained staff monitor your pet's status throughout the procedure and we have machines which constantly measure heart rate, respiratory rate, oxygen levels and body temperature. Intravenous fluid therapy is used where indicated. In most cases your animal will have been starved prior to general aneasthetic and where appropriate we will provide water and food as soon as they have recovered. |
